Abstract
Radial fractures are defined as injuries or fissures in the radial bone and generally occur due to intense impacts, such as car accidents. In elderly individuals with osteoporosis, these fractures are common after falls with an outstretched hand, as bone fragility increases the risk of serious injuries. Physiotherapeutic rehabilitation plays an essential role in this process, as it allows for functional recovery and reintegration of the patient into daily and professional activities. This study aims to report the physiotherapeutic rehabilitation of a patient with a distal fracture of the left radius, treated at the Integrated Health Center of the Unifanor/Wyden University Center. Follow-up took place between August and October 2024, totaling eight sessions. During this period, a detailed clinical evaluation was performed to collect necessary information to integrate the patient into the adopted therapeutic protocol and adjust interventions according to individual needs. Early physiotherapy intervention was fundamental to optimizing recovery, minimizing complications, and accelerating the healing process. The proposed therapeutic plan included an approach based on gradual load progression, early mobilization, and the application of electrotherapy, such as laser therapy, aimed at stimulating tissue regeneration. In addition, muscle strengthening exercises were performed to aid and stabilize the area, along with functional training, promoting the patient's adaptation to daily demands and reducing the loss of strength and mobility. The inability to practice their profession directly compromises their self-esteem and routine, making it essential to have an approach that addresses not only motor deficits but also psychological support, helping the individual to fully reintegrate into society. This report demonstrates that the adopted protocol was effective, fully achieving the established treatment objectives. The physiotherapeutic approach applied in the rehabilitation of the distal radius fracture proved fundamental to the patient's recovery, reinforcing its effectiveness as a therapeutic resource in restoring function and promoting quality of life.
