BARREIRAS DE ACESSO AOS SERVIÇOS DE ATENÇÃO PRIMÁRIA E SEUS EFEITOS NA SAÚDE MENTAL DA POPULAÇÃO LGBTQIAPN+ NO BRASIL: UMA REVISÃO INTEGRATIVA

Abstract

This article analyzes the progress and challenges in ensuring the health of the LGBTQIA+ population in Brazil, focusing on Primary Health Care (PHC) as the entry point to the Unified Health System (UHS). It highlights that, despite public policies such as the Brazil Without Homophobia program and the National Policy for Comprehensive LGBT+ Health, structural barriers, prejudices, and discriminatory practices persist, hindering access to and quality of care. The literature shows that LGBTQIA+ people, especially transgender and transvestite individuals, face greater vulnerability, lower demand for health services, and worse outcomes due to social stigma. The methodology consisted of a review of studies from the last five years, from which three were selected, pointing to both difficulties and potential in PHC. Among the main findings, the importance of welcoming, training of teams (clinical and non-clinical), the use of inclusive language, and the adequate collection of information on sexual orientation and gender identity stand out. The need for comprehensive approaches that overcome the limited view focused solely on sexually transmitted infections (STIs) is also evident. Therefore, although there has been progress, it is essential to strengthen inclusive practices, expand access, and promote equity through intersectoral actions and the active participation of the LGBTQIA+ community.
