O IMPACTO DA DIVISÃO SOCIAL DO TRABALHO NA SAÚDE MENTAL DAS MULHERES: SOBRECARGA E INVISIBILIDADE

This study analyzes the impact of the sexual division of labor on women's mental health, focusing on the mechanisms of invisibility that sustain female overload. The research is grounded in the theoretical contributions of Helena Hirata and Danièle Kergoat, exploring how the naturalization of caregiving and the gender hierarchy undervalue female roles. Methodologically, it is characterized as an integrative literature review with a qualitative and exploratory approach. The findings reveal that despite the increased entry of women into the labor market, reaching 48.1 million employed women in Brazil in 2024, responsibility for domestic work remains unequal, with women dedicating twice as much time to household chores compared to men. This double burden and the mental load of family organization act as potent stressors, resulting in chronic exhaustion and psychological distress. The study concludes that female mental illness is a structural problem derived from patriarchal logic, highlighting the urgent need for policies such as the National Care Policy to make the work of social reproduction visible and to redistribute it.
