Abstract
Introduction: Some technological resources are present in health education and, when used in health education, show potential, becoming attractive tools in the teaching-learning process, both for the academic and for the community. The student produces the communicational product and uses this product to educate the population or a community about health. The Physiotherapy in Elderly Health course at the research institution has an extensionist character and aims to develop in its students the fundamental competencies for 21st-century professionals, such as creativity, teamwork, effective communication, critical-reflective thinking, social awareness, and responsible decision-making. This study aims to report the experience of two Physiotherapy students in an extensionist course in the elaboration of informative material for the general population and for the elderly about Elderly Health and themes present in the Healthy Aging Policy proposed by the World Health Organization (WHO). Methodology: This is an account of an experience carried out in the second semester of 2024 at the Fanor Wyden University Center, where the course instructor proposed the production of an educational technology on topics covered in class, with the aim of providing direct information and seeking to be an accessible form of communication for the elderly and the general population. The first stage of the activity was the selection of the educational technology model; the second stage was the definition of the themes; the fourth stage was the selection of the name and layout of the created technology; and the fifth stage was the production of scripts according to the chosen themes. Results and Discussion: As a result of the first stage, a podcast format was chosen for the informational material, containing four themes in four episodes, namely: 1. Statute of the Elderly Person, 2. National Policy for the Elderly Person, 3. Changes of Aging, and 4. Risks of Falls, as these themes were covered in class and are relevant to what the WHO advocates regarding the Healthy Aging Policy launched in the Decade of Healthy Aging (2021-2030). The name chosen for the podcast was "Safety in Motion," as it refers to two important themes in the health of the elderly. The chosen layout was a colorful image of elderly people in motion to relate to the theme. The scripts were prepared by the students of the discipline within a stipulated deadline and comprised the first part of the activity evaluation, where the teacher carried out and proposed the necessary adjustments, accounting for part of the discipline's evaluation process. Subsequently, the recording phase of the speeches was carried out from home and uploaded to the Spotify® platform on November 14, 2024, accessible via the address: https://open.spotify.com/show/3Eo4Lc1nqpJhfRvyZU6131. Conclusion: This experience report was a collaborative construction of an educational technology where, through the knowledge acquired by the students and in connection with the expository classes of the discipline following the Extensionist Teaching Plan, it was possible to create an innovative approach to health education that can be applied in the community or in groups of elderly people later by other classes of students in the discipline.
